One Room Challenge Week 2

Time is flying by for this One Room Challenge! It is officially the second week of the challenge and I’m sharing my design plan and my wallpaper selections for this room. If you haven’t already, you should go check out all of the other amazing participants. This is such a fun group to be a part of. Many thanks to Nancy from Calling it Home and Better Homes and Gardens for making it possible!

As you saw last week, there were quite a few contenders for the room wallpaper. Well, in the end I really wanted something timeless that could grow up with my son. So, the winner is…

Phillip Jeffries Manilla Hemp Grasscloth

I just love the look and texture of grasscloth wallpapers. I felt like this was a way to add interest to the walls, but would also be classic enough to last through the years. Here are a couple great grasscloth rooms.

Ok, so that’s the wallpaper selection. Here is the rest of the design plan…

The big furniture pieces are going to be the crib, dresser, glider, ottoman and daybed. The daybed may be coming later, but it is in my overall long-term plan. I’m getting a rug made in that fun patterned carpet. I also want to do some custom drapes and shades with a special edge trim. There will be a new overhead light with trim and to replace the awful ceiling fan. The room doesn’t always have the best light so my plan is to add a floor lamp and possibly a table lamp. I haven’t totally decided on the ottoman yet. My husband and I can’t agree on the fabric pattern, so we’ll see if it makes it in time. The other accessories and bedding are still a work in progress, so I better get busy making some decisions!
